Why undue favours given to OKCL: AG

Bhubaneswar: The accountant general (AG) office here has questioned the way Odisha Knowledge Corporation Limited (OKCL) was formed. It has also objected to the state government offering undue financial favours to OKCL, copies of the AG memorandum to the state government shows.

TOI in a report "Chief secy-led OKCL not govt company" on December 26 last year, had questioned the way the state government notified OKCL as a company in the Odisha Gazette, making it look like a government body, though it was not. It has been registered as a public limited company. Currently, higher education secretary is the chairman of OKCL.

Indramani Tripathy, joint secretary, school and mass education department, on Wednesday sought response from Ratnakar Rout, state project director, Odisha Madhyamika Siksha Mission (OMSM), the state's nodal agency to implement the Centre-sponsored Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA), on the AG's audit objections. The RMSA has released Rs 177 crore to the OKCL in 2013-2015 for implementation of information communication technology (ICT) programme in schools.
